About Holly

Holly Bidwell has been sharing stories in and around Canberra since 2014. Holly can come to your school, childcare centre or community event and perform a themed session of your choice. Holly is an Accredited Member, and current President of, the ACT Storytellers Guild.

Holly's regular centres look forward to each session - one week Holly will be a dragon, the next week she'll arrive in her pyjamas for bedtime tales

  • Are you a school celebrating Book Week?

  • Are you a childcare centre learning about space?

  • Are you hosting an event and would like a storyteller to entertain the young and young at heart?

Holly is here to help.

What does a session look like?

Holly uses simple costumes, props, puppets, whiteboards and felt boards to tell traditional folktales and modern favourites. Sessions for under 5s also include songs and nursery rhymes.

Children are active participants in the programs. Participation may include joining in the songs and having a dance or contributing to the story or the storytelling process.

What are the benefits of storytelling?

Storytelling promotes literacy, creativity and listening skills. It offers exposure to different cultures, traditions and values and, of course, it is a lot of fun!

What can Holly do for you?

Holly can offer a program from her repertoire of over 35 themes or design a custom theme that works for your audience and needs.

She is available for one-off bookings or regular visits. She performs regularly in several centres and has performed in national instutions throughout Canberra such as the National Library of Australia.
